1987 Donruss #66 - Will Clark

• Johngy from Johngy's Beat sent me this card. This was the one card I needed to complete my 1987 Donruss Giants team set. Thanks a lot Johngy!

2012 Topps #298 - Jeff Keppinger

• Here is the fourth card that came from Maddux, Glavine and Smoltz.
• Jeff Keppinger has moved around a lot during his career. The Giants were his fifth major league team in seven seasons.
• Keppinger is now with his sixth team. On 27 January 2012 he signed with the Tampa Bay Rays.
• Those orange uniform tops are great!

2012 Topps #155 - Matt Cain

• Here is the third of four cards I got from Maddux, Glavine and Smoltz.
• Matt Cain is another of the homegrown Giants. It would be nice to see him stick around with the Giants for several more years.
• It's hard to believe he still has a sub-.500 lifetime record. The 2007 and 2008 seasons were tough ones.

2012 Topps #185 - Pablo Sandoval

• Mr. Sandoval had a nice comeback season last year. I hope he can keep it up this year!
• This is a really nice action shot.

2012 Topps #260 - Brian Wilson

• Beard!
• I hope Mr. Wilson is over the arm problems he had at the end of last year. I'd like to see him get another 35-save season.
• Chris at Maddux, Glavine and Smoltz offered to send 2012 Topps cards to those who wanted them. I asked for some Giants cards and he sent me four cards. Thanks Chris!

1984 Topps Rub Down Johnnie LeMaster

• Tom from The Angels in Order posted some cards a couple of months ago that he had acquired. I commented that it was cool that he got a Johnnie LeMaster. Tom e-mailed me and asked if I would like it. A week later the card was in my mailbox. Thanks Tom! :)

2010 Topps National Chicle Giants

A collector on Zistle (The Hopeful Chase) offered me a "trade." He offered me several 2010 National Chicle Giants and didn't want anything in return. He's trying to clean out some space. Here are the cards he sent me:

1988 Fleer Star Sticker #130 - Rick Reuschel

• Here is another Giants card (or sticker in this case) sent to me by Baseball Dad.
• Rick Reuschel had some good years with the Giants from 1987-1989. 
• Reuschel had several good years with the Chicago Cubs in the 1970s. 
• Rick went to the New York Yankees as a free agent and then got hurt. 
• He tried to come back with the Cubs in the mid 80s but was  unsuccessful. 
• Reuschel pitched well for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1985-1987 and then was traded to the Giants in time for their playoff drive in 1987. Rick was narrowly beat out for the NL Cy Young Award by Philadelphia's Steve Bedrosian. Bedrosian finished 2 points ahead of Chicago's Rick Sutcliffe and 3 points ahead of Reuschel.
• Even though he was a big dude (his nickname was "Big Daddy"), Reuschel was a good athlete. He was one of my favorites from this era.

Have I been Bipped?

• Baseball Dad from All Tribe Baseball sent me a bunch of Giants cards last week. This was the first thing I saw when I opened the box. I thought I had been "bipped," but there were a lot of good Giants cards in the box. I'll be showing them off in the next several posts. Thanks Jack!

Father's Day Contest Prize from Number 5 Type Collection

• Here is a picture of the goodies I won from the Number 5 Type Collection blog
• Gotta love the old cards. I'm especially excited about the Phoenix Giants cards since I went to a lot of their games when I was young
• People who entered the contest had to make a comment about what his/her favorite team was and what his/her father's favorite team was. My comment is below:
• My father's favorite team is the Giants. After a bit of an odyssey on my part, my favorite team ended up being the Giants as well.
  
  I think my dad rooted/roots for the Giants because they have trained here in Arizona. Their AAA team was the Phoenix Giants for many years.
  
  I started out as a Reds fan. This was the era of the Big Red Machine. I got mad at the Reds for trading Tony Perez and letting Pete Rose go. I switched to the Phillies when Rose went there. The Giants were always my secondary team because of going to so many Phoenix Giants games.
  
  After Pete retired I ended up rooting for the Giants full time. This was the Roger Craig "humm-baby" era. This continued until the Barry Bonds era. I pulled for the Giants for his first few years, but when Arizona got the Diamondbacks I started rooting for them. This was mainly because it was getting much tougher to root for Bonds (grouchiness, roids).
  
  After Bonds left I went back to the Giants and have been there ever since.

2011 Topps Heritage #319 -- Tim didn't have his best stuff today. The Braves are ahead 5-1 as I'm writing this.

2011 Topps Heritage #260. Cain has been struggling a bit lately, but he'll turn it around. :)

2011 Topps Heritage #60. Lincecum before the long hairdo.

2011 Topps Opening Day #64. No foil on the front -- I like it better. Now if they'd get back to cardboard stock.....

2010 Topps Heritage #80. Mr. Wilson before the beard.
