#155 Stu Miller
  • Stu Miller was the main relief ace for the Giants in 1962. He went 5-8 with a 4.12 ERA and had 19 saves in 59 games. He appeared in two games in the World Series and didn't allow any runs in 1 1/3 innings pitched.

#33 Don Larsen
  • Don Larsen was 5-4 with 11 saves and a 4.38 ERA in 49 games. Larsen pitched in three games in the World Series and was credited with the win in game 4. Larsen was the pitcher of record when Tom Haller hit a grand slam to put the Giants ahead for good. Don had a 3.86 ERA in 2 1/3 innings in the series.

#71 Dick LeMay
  • Dick LeMay pitched in nine games and was 0-1 with one save and a 7.71 ERA. He spent most of the season with AAA Tacoma.

1960 Topps Giants - Part 5 (more pitchers)

  • Georges Maranda (#479) appeared in 17 games (4 starts) and was 1-2 with a 4.62 ERA. He pitched in the Braves organization from 1951-1959. The Giants drafted him in the rule 5 draft after he went 18-6 with a 2.48 ERA for AAA Louisville in 1959. Maranda pitched for the Giants in 1960 and was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the rule 5 draft after the season. Georges was in the minors in 1961, pitched for the Twins in 1962, then was back in the minors in 1963. He was from Levis, Quebec.

  • Sam Jones (#410) was 18-14 with a 3.19 ERA in 1960. It would be his last big season. Jones pitched for the Giants from 1959-1961 then was taken by the Houston Colt .45s in the expansion draft.

  • Stu Miller (#378) was 7-6 with four saves and a 3.90 ERA. He led the Giants in appearances with 47. Miller had a good career as a reliever from 1952-1968.

  • Bud Byerly (#371) was 1-0 with two saves and a 5.32 ERA in 19 appearances. Bud split the season between the Giants and AAA Tacoma. The 1960 season was his last as a major leaguer. He started his career in 1943, went to the minors after World War II ended, and made it back to the big leagues in 1950.

  • Ray Monzant (#338) pitched one inning for the Giants and allowed a run on April 25, 1960. It was his only 1960 appearance and his last appearance in the majors. Monzant pitched in 40 games for Tacoma in 1960. He had been in the Giants organization since 1952. There is no record of him pitching in 1959 -- perhaps he was hurt that year. Or maybe he just stayed in Venezuela that year. He often reported late for spring training and wasn't sure if he wanted to pitch in America or stay home.

  • Billy O'Dell (#303) was 8-13 with a 3.20 ERA in 43 games (24 starts). He pitched for the Giants from 1960-1964. He was traded to the Milwaukee Braves for Ed Bailey after a subpar 1964 season. Billy bounced back to have two more good years and hung 'em up after the 1967 season.

  • Al Worthington (#268) didn't pitch for the Giants in 1960. He was traded to the Boston Red Sox for Jim Marshall during spring training.

Others who pitched for the Giants in 1960 but didn't receive a Topps card:

  • Sherman Jones (1-1, 1 save, 3.09 ERA, 16 games)
  • Don Choate (0-0, 2.25 ERA, 4 games)
